About the Mosquers Film Festival:
Mosquers: (noun) a combination of the words Mosque and The Oscars; a third space meant for the talented and wonderful creative community that identifies as Muslim but tells universal stories. A celebration of the often underrepresented and always undercelebrated. The Mosquers is the world’s largest film and arts festival that convenes Muslim creatives. Our goal is to transform the way people see Muslims.
Role Overview:
We are seeking a Marketing Director to lead the festival’s marketing committee, ensuring cohesive branding, audience engagement, and strategic promotion. This volunteer role is ideal for a marketing professional passionate about film, storytelling, and community engagement. The Marketing Director will oversee the Social Media Coordinator, guiding content strategy and outreach, and work closely with the Creative Directors to maintain brand cohesion.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing strategy for the festival.
Oversee the Social Media Content Calendar.
Oversee the creation of media kits to share with community and media partners.
Manage traditional and digital advertising budgets.
Oversee monthly newsletters.
Coordinate with vendors for advertising and postering across Edmonton.
Manage printing logistics, including name tags, programs, film posters, banners, and step & repeats.
Collaborate with internal teams, including the Creative Directors, to ensure brand cohesion across all marketing materials.
Work with external partners to amplify the festival’s reach.
Qualifications:
Experience in marketing, communications, or a related field.
Strong understanding of social media trends and engagement strategies.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage projects, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively.
Passion for film, arts, and community-driven storytelling.
